Autumn is about drawing our outward, active energies inward and back to centre. We can use this withdrawing of energy during Autumn to our advantage by taking the opportunity to bring harmony back to the body; slowing down, giving room for reflection, and creating a state of ease with our relationship to change.

The Yin practice will work with long held, passive poses that target the deeper tissues of the body, exploring the lines of energy associated with Autumn. We will work deep into the tissues to explore the interplay of expansion and contraction along the upper torso. Through this practice of physical sensation and cultivation of stillness, we have an opportunity for deeper internal observation and reflection - getting a clearer picture of who we are.

After the Yin practice, Janine will guide you through a 25 minute Yoga Nidra meditation. Yoga Nidra, also known as dynamic sleep, prompts the body to relax deeply while the mind remains inwardly alert - ultimately reaching a state between wakefulness and sleep. A deeply healing practice, 25 minutes of Yoga Nidra can equal 2 hours of deep sleep.

Open to all bodies and abilities. No previous yoga experience is necessary. No specialist equipment is required. Just grab a few pillows, blankets and hardcover books… whatever you can find to support you in the poses.

In general the yin approach helps to promote flexibility in areas often perceived as non malleable, especially in the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Yin is an introspective practice that offers a chance to turn inwards and nurture the calm, quiet centre that is innate in all of us. Through yin yoga we become adept at self-care, becoming better listeners with practice of tuning in, providing us some time to listen to our bodies. This practice is for everyone.

Please let us know when you book if you have any injuries or conditions which may affect your yoga practice, this allows Janine to suggest modifications where appropriate. No previous experience of yoga or specialist equipment is necessary

Join Janine as we honour the change in season and explore the inward pull of our energy to find balance and clarity!
