Saying ‘No’ to School: A Practical Guide to Home Education - Thursday 24th September 2020 (7.30pm-8.30pm BST)

£10.00

The 1966 Education Act states that a “child must be educated, whether at school or otherwise”. Many parents choose the latter option and decide to home educate their children. If this is something you are currently considering, this is the session for you.

This introductory online presentation will answer the questions parents and carers often ask when looking into home education. Questions such as:

  • How do I take my child out of the school system?

  • What about socialisation?

  • Do I have to follow a curriculum?

  • What does home education involve?

  • Will my children learn enough?

Jay Byrd is an OFSTED registered childminder with 8 years experience of working with schooled and home educated children. She was educated at home by her parents until the age of 14 and now home educates her son. She is an advocate of home education and supports the community by working and volunteering at a children’s democratic community.
